ACADEMIC BODY OF MECHATRONICS

 



The Academic Body of Mechatronics, with record number UACJ-CA-75, is officially recognized by PROMEP (Programa del Mejoramiento al Profesorado), which is an instance of the SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública). The contributions of this body regards a set of multidisciplinary engineering areas. Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of engineering, which from a general perpespective is a combination of Mechanical engineering, Electronic engineering, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Control engineering, and Systems Design engineering. This academic body is mainly focused on the research of Robotic Systems. We deal with the design, construction, and application of the technology of mobile robotics, and the computer systems involved for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. According to the members' research expertise, we currently contribute two lines of knowledge:

 

  • Mobile robotics: In the area of mobile robotics we develop and research numerous topics on autonomous machines (wheeled and aerial) that are capable of moving within a given environment. Our topics of research include: Mathematical solutions to robot kinematic and dynamic restrictions, teleoperation control systems, desing of computacional robot architectures and develpment of human-robot interfaces. A major focus consists of finding out theoretical solutions of sets of second order parcial differential equations that model a Diversity of restrictictions to control holonomic and non-holonomic systems.

 

  • Sensing and control models: In this area our main research interests involve establishing physics-based model equations for navigation control and manoeuvrability, non-linear control of actuators in robotic systems, computer vision, and modeling different sensing modalities.
